The Journey - Our Resident Representatives

The Regional Bureau for Africa leads UNDP works in 46 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa,
implementing the organization’s Strategic Plan, driven by the vision to eliminate poverty, significantly reduce inequalities and exclusion, while inspiring hope for a better future.
In the oft-quoted words of the late United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan: “We need to keep hope alive and strive to do better, [because] in the 21st century, the mission of the United Nations will be defined by a new, more profound awareness of the sanctity and dignity of every human life, regardless of race or religion.”
The personal stories of our RRs in this second Volume of The Journey fittingly capture and encapsulate these words. As the key people responsible for UNDP activities and programmes in the countries they work in, Resident Representatives play a crucial role in keeping the hopes of millions alive, while shining a light on UNDP’s development strategies and work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as a future smart Africa.
And like in Volume 1, this book is about who they are, what drives them, their aspirations and the journeys they have traversed.
