Yangon, September 25, 2026 — The Government of the Republic of Korea is continuing its support to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to help crisis affected communities in Myanmar recover, restore livelihoods and strengthen resilience through the second phase of the Relief, Employment and Vital Infrastructure for the Vulnerable in Emergencies (R.E.V.I.V.E.) initiative.

R.E.V.I.V.E.  II is expected to reach an estimated 700,000 people in six townships in Bago Region, Shan State and Mon State. It will prioritize crisis-affected and underserved communities where repeated shocks have damaged livelihoods, disrupted essential services and weakened local infrastructure.

The initiative will help farmers and other vulnerable households restore productive livelihoods, rehabilitate essential community facilities and undertake locally identified recovery activities. Communities will play a central role in identifying priorities and planning and implementing activities, helping to ensure that support responds to local needs while strengthening preparedness for future shocks.

"For communities already living with conflict, displacement and economic hardship, recovery is not something that begins when a crisis ends,” says Mr. Norimasa Shimomura, UNDP Resident Representative in Myanmar. “People are already rebuilding, finding ways to earn a living and restore the services their families depend on. The continued support of the Republic of Korea enables UNDP to stand with communities through that process, helping them turn recovery into a foundation for greater resilience and a more secure future.”

R.E.V.I.V.E. II builds on the first phase of the initiative, through which the Republic of Korea and UNDP supported communities affected by prolonged crisis and the 2025 earthquake. R.E.V.I.V.E. I reached more than 1.55 million people in 30 townships through assistance for safer housing, restored water and community infrastructure and livelihood recovery assistance. 

The second phase will apply lessons from this phase through a more focused approach. By combining immediate recovery assistance with measures that strengthen livelihoods, community systems and preparedness, R.E.V.I.V.E. II will help communities recover with greater resilience and reduce their vulnerability to future shocks.
