The UNDP Resident Representative is the UNDP Administrator's representative at the country level, and head of the country office being ultimately accountable for UNDP’s programme and operations, including for the quality and sustainability of UNDP interventions on the ground.
Antonio Molpeceres
UNDP Resident Representative a.i for Mozambique
Prior to his appointment in December 2022 as UNDP Resident Representative a.i in Mozambique, Mr. Molpeceres was Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Mexico, from 2016 to 2020, and Resident Representative of UNDP in that same country from 2016 to 2018.
With over thirty-five years of experience in the United Nations, he began his work in the United Nations system as a Junior UNDP Officer in Equatorial Guinea in 1985.
He later became Program Officer in Angola (1988-1990) and then Regional Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean. He later served as Deputy Resident Representative in Venezuela (1993-1995) and El Salvador (1995-1998). From 1998 to 2001, he served as a Specialist at the Learning Resource Center in New York.
He was Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative in Venezuela (2001-2004) and Bolivia (2004-2007), UNDP Country Director in Uruguay (2007-2012) and Resident Coordinator and Resident Representative of UNDP in Chile (2012-2016).
Mr. Molpeceres is an economist, with a degree in Economics from McGill University in Montreal and a Masters in Development Economics from the University of Montreal. Mr. Molpeceres is Canadian and speaks fluently Spanish, French and English.
Christy Ahenkora
UNDP Deputy Resident Representative (Programme a.i) for Mozambique
Christy Ahenkora is a Development Economist with forty years experience in Development Planning and Management; Programme/ Project Planning and Management; Private Sector Development, Decentralisation and Local Economic Development.
Prior to joining UNDP Mozambique in December, 2022, Christy served as UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in charge of Programmes in South Sudan from August, 2020 to July, 2022 and in Lesotho as Deputy Resident Representative, with responsibility for both Programmes and Operations from September, 2015. Christy served as the Head of Programmes in UNDP Ghana, where she started her career with the United Nations as a National Programme Specialist in November, 2000.
Prior to joining UNDP, Christy worked as a Planner in the Civil Service of Ghana and on various World Bank and UNDP funded programmes in the areas of Decentralisation, Local Economic Development and Poverty Reduction. She is holds a Master of Science Degree in Survey Integration for Resources Development from the Institute of Earth Sciences and International Institute for Aerospace and Earth Sciences, in the Netherlands, with specialisation in Programme Planning and Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Development Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology (KNUST), Ghana.
Anna Chyzhkova
UNDP Deputy Resident Representative (Operations) for Mozambique
Anna is originally from Ukraine, with 14 years of progressive managerial experience both in the field and HQ. Anna worked in strategies and policy development, advisory role, operations, programme oversight and implementation, advocacy, donor relations, and resource mobilization.
Anna led substantive and operational portfolios in development, crisis and transition contexts, namely Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali and Mauritania. She worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Resident Coordinator Office in Guinea-Bissau 2010-2013, United Nations Volunteers Programme HQ 2013-2022, UNDP-DPPA in Mauritania 2021. She has experience of working with the Department of Peace Operations and Political Missions both at the field and HQ level. Prior to joining the United Nations, she worked with International NGOs (Plan International, VSO), national Civil Society platform and in the education sector.
Anna led development problem solving in Poverty and Inequality, Governance, Youth, Environment, Resilience and Peacebuilding, Women Empowerment, Conflict Prevention and Digital Solutions.
She has graduated from the University of Birmingham (UK) in Master’s in International Development, Poverty Reduction and Inequality (2017). Anna holds Masters in Applied Foreign Languages from the University Jean Moulin Lyon III (France) (2000) and a specialisation in Gender Mainstreaming into Local Development Projects with ILO (2005).
Anna speaks English, Portuguese, French, Italian, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian. Anna returns to Mozambique after almost 20 years, she lived in Maputo from 2001 to 2004.
Anna believes that “the bigger the challenge, the bigger opportunity”.
