RISE Project Holds Technical Induction Workshop Ahead of Official Launch
March 3, 2026
Maputo — The Agência de Desenvolvimento Integrado do Norte (ADIN), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) today opened a three‑day Technical Induction Workshop for the Resilient Investment for Socioeconomic Empowerment, Peace and Security Project (RISE‑PS). The workshop is being held at the Ministry of Planning and Development (MPD) in Maputo, which is hosting the event.
The workshop precedes the official launch of the RISE‑PS project on 6 March and brings together technical experts, project teams and institutional partners to reinforce coordinated readiness for project implementation across all components.
In their opening remarks, ADIN, UNDP and AfDB highlighted the strategic importance of the RISE‑PS initiative in strengthening resilience, expanding economic opportunities, and supporting peace and stability in Mozambique’s conflict‑affected northern provinces. They underscored the need for robust systems, strong institutional collaboration, and a shared operational foundation to ensure high‑quality and accountable delivery.
Over the next three days, participants will review and align on the core technical and operational pillars of the project, including governance structures, implementation arrangements, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems, procurement and financial management procedures, and environmental and social safeguards. The programme also includes detailed sessions on risk management, reporting protocols, and community engagement approaches.
The workshop provides an opportunity to deepen the understanding of each project component—ranging from social infrastructure and entrepreneurship development to market access and institutional capacity‑building—ensuring that all actors have a coherent and harmonised approach ahead of the rollout phase.
A key milestone of the first day was the formal signing of the partnership agreement between UNDP and ADIN, establishing the institutional framework that will guide coordinated implementation. The signing reinforces national ownership, strengthens operational collaboration, and supports the effective delivery of results on the ground.
Throughout the workshop, discussions are focused on refining implementation protocols, strengthening alignment across institutions, and consolidating the technical foundations required for efficient, transparent, and results‑driven delivery of the RISE portfolio. The sessions aim to equip all partners with a shared operational understanding—essential for ensuring coherence across components, compliance with national and partner standards, and timely decision‑making as the project transitions into full implementation.
The Technical Induction Workshop marks an important step in preparing for the successful launch of the RISE‑PS project on 6 March and lays the groundwork for sustained collaboration and impact in Mozambique’s northern regions.
