The dedication remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that champion gender equality, thereby empowering women to thrive in STEM fields. This commitment aims to bolster their economic empowerment and catalyze progress towards the dual transition of sustainability and technological advancement.

In her impactful messages, Kaca Djurickovic emphasized the invaluable contributions made by women in STEM. Despite these contributions and the compelling evidence that diversity enriches companies, women still encounter formidable obstacles while pursuing and advancing in STEM careers. Despite being the majority of STEM graduates in numerous countries, women and girls continue to grapple with entrenched patriarchal norms and systemic challenges. Excluding girls, women, their voices, and leadership from STEM fields is a luxury our societies cannot afford. The future economies unequivocally require the active participation of women in STEM.

Breaking down these gender barriers necessitates a collective and coordinated effort, providing a platform for diverse stakeholders and women in STEM to collaborate, exchange experiences, and inspire others. UNDP remains steadfast across the Western Balkans in its tireless efforts to empower women in STEM, striving towards a future where gender equality thrives within the realms of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
