Electoral corruption in the Republic of Moldova: Social profiles, gender disparities and institutional response
Electoral corruption in the Republic of Moldova: Social profiles, gender disparities and institutional response
April 6, 2026
This study aims to provide a rigorous analytical framework on electoral corruption, focusing on gender-specific aspects and the mechanisms that facilitate this practice. The absence of studies on the vulnerabilities of different social groups to voter corruption, coupled with the rapid evolution of the phenomenon in recent years, calls for an integrated and interdisciplinary approach. The document aims to identify the distinct roles of women and men in the corruption system, assess how administrative and criminal sanctions are applied, and analyse the socio-demographic profiles of those involved.
The study was conducted by the Partnership for Development Center, with the support of UNDP Moldova, in partnership with UN Women Moldova, and funded by Norway, Canada, Sweden, and Denmark.
