UNDP Gendered Voices Newsletter - Women Advancing the SDGs in the Republic of Seychelles

October 1, 2026

This edition of the UNDP Mauritius and Seychelles Gendered Voices Newsletter pays tribute to four Seychellois women who are driving change in their communities through leadership, advocacy, environmental stewardship, social action, and community engagement. The First Lady of Seychelles, H.E. Mrs. Veronique Herminie, emphasizes that sustainable development should be rooted in compassion, inclusion, and a dedication to serving others. For Ms. Alexandria Faure, Seychelles Acting Clerk, creating strong and accessible institutions that empower women and youth to engage meaningfully in national discussions is key to achieving sustainable and inclusive development. As Principal Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources, Ms. Nanette Laure exemplifies leadership in the field of environmental protection and wants to ensure that the unique challenges faced by Small Island Developing States are recognized on the global stage. Finally, Mrs. Joanna Prosper, SeyCCAT Blue Grants Fund Coordinator, focuses on the connections between ecosystems, communities, and livelihoods, asserting that people must be central to environmental solutions. These individual experiences demonstrate how the voices and contributions of women are essential in tackling complex development challenges, paving the way for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
