Future - Ready Democratic Institutions

Latin America and the Caribbean are at a decisive moment: the region's democratic advances coexist with the erosion of citizen trust, misinformation, polarization, and persistent inequalities. In response to this scenario, the UNDP presents Future - Ready Democratic Institutions (IDF), a regional commitment to institutional innovation toward the integrated advancement of Democracy, Development and the State.

The Strategic Guide supports public institutions in their processes of transformation and institutional innovation, with the aim of strengthening critical governance capacities, improving development outcomes, strengthening citizen trust, and preparing the State to act in contexts of complexity and uncertainty. To this end, five accelerators — anticipatory governance, collaborative governance, communications governance, comprehensive governance and digital governance — together with a cross-cutting approach to intergenerational governance, are developed, and two instruments are offered to move into action: the Strategic Capabilities Radar and the Institutional Acceleration Plan.

In this space you will find the Strategic Guide and its Methodological Note, available in Spanish and English, as well as the Experiences Repository, which brings together more than 150 experiences from public institutions in the region, connected with the IDF methodology accelerators.
