At a critical moment for advancing climate action in Latin America and the Caribbean, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launches “A Region on the Move: Gender-Responsive Climate Action in Latin America and the Caribbean,” a key tool to strengthen more inclusive, equitable, and human rights-based climate implementation. This inventory provides a comprehensive regional baseline on how countries are integrating a gender perspective into their climate policies and instruments, including Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Building on the outcomes of COP30 and the adoption of the Belém Gender Action Plan (GAP), this inventory offers a strategic lens to assess existing progress, identify gaps, and highlight opportunities to strengthen gender-responsive climate action across five priority areas: capacity development, participation and leadership, policy coherence, implementation, and monitoring systems.
The launch webinar will serve as a regional platform for technical exchange and collective reflection, bringing together governments, UN agencies, and key stakeholders to explore how current progress can be scaled up and aligned with the implementation of the Belém GAP.
The discussion will also situate these findings within the Climate Promise framework, emphasizing the transition from analysis to action through stronger linkages between evidence, public policy, and implementation pathways. Ultimately, this space aims to shift the conversation from “what has been achieved” to “how to implement,” positioning the inventory as a key tool to support a more coherent, efficient, and evidence-based implementation of the Belém Gender Action Plan from 2026 onward.
