On behalf of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the CAF - Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, it is an honor to invite attendance at the Fourth CAF-UNDP Conference on Governance for Development: “Democratic Institutions for the Future: Governing Complexity and Renewing Trust”, a high-level session to be held within the framework of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Latin America and the Caribbean face a context of increasing complexity, marked by challenges such as organized crime, the climate crisis, rapid technological transformation, misinformation, and polarization. These dynamics pose new demands on democratic institutions and highlight the need to strengthen their capacities to anticipate risks, manage uncertainty, respond effectively to citizen expectations, and deliver concrete development results.
The Conference will bring together representatives from governments, subnational authorities, development partners, and leading authoritative academic voices in a dialogue space aimed at advancing a regional agenda of institutional innovation and reflecting on the capacities needed by the region's democracies to respond to a context of growing complexity, strengthen resilience and renew citizen trust, while preserving the freedoms and rights of people.
