Digital platforms for learning English
PROJECT OWNER: UNDP Dominican Republic
From our office in 2023-2024 we have contributed to the implementation of the “English for a Better” program Life” of the Ministry of Education through the digital English learning platform . Currently, 42,500 high school students are being impacted with the early acquisition of the language and, as a collateral impact, they are being empowered in digitalization, since the program is completely via a self-study digital platform . Through the implementation of this first stage of the pilot, regional foreign language technicians, district technicians, directors of educational centers, and English teachers who are working on this program that covers 144 educational centers have been trained.
MINERD has decided to standardize the use of this digital English learning platform, which requires the expansion of the English program pilot, with 159,673 new licenses for the 2024-2025 academic year, reaching 30% of the universe of secondary school students in the country.
