This strategy is the result of a collaborative and inclusive process involving a wide range of stakeholders, including the Government of Kenya, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), Civil Society Organizations, the Private Sector, Development Partners, and the United Nations. Together, we have worked to shape a unified approach that promotes the rights, inclusion, and participation of persons with disabilities across all sectors of society. The Joint Disability Inclusion Strategy is anchored in the principles and values of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025, and reflects our shared commitment to:

1. Respect for inherent dignity and individual autonomy, including the freedom to make one’s own choices and independence in private affairs.

2. Equality and non-discrimination.

3. Full and effective participation and inclusion in society.

4. Respect for difference and acceptance of persons with disabilities as part of human diversity and humanity.

5. Equality of opportunity.

6. Accessibility.

7. Access to information.

8. Equality between men and women.

9. Respect for the evolving capacities of children with disabilities and their right to preserve their identities.

The launch event will provide a platform to reaffirm our collective commitment to disability inclusion and to chart a path forward for its implementation.
