An international briefing entitled "Partnership for Effective Development" was held today in Almaty to discuss the priorities of cooperation within the framework of the official assistance programme and the principles of effective development cooperation. The event was organized by KazAID and the Association for Civil Society Development (ARGO) with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kazakhstan.
The event was attended by more than 20 representatives of civil society organizations from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan whose activities focus on gender equality, financial literacy, community development, telemedicine and other issues. The briefing included plenary sessions with presentations from representatives of KazAID, ARGO and experts from the non-governmental sector in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The results of the briefing will help to identify country needs and priority areas for effective partnership within KazAID's official assistance programme. These recommendations will contribute to horizontal development cooperation based on the principles of solidarity, reciprocity and human rights.
Official Development Assistance (ODA) is the government support that the Republic of Kazakhstan provides to other countries on a grant basis to achieve sustainable development goals. The national operator for ODA is the Kazakh Agency for International Development (KazAID), an organisation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. KazAID implements projects for Central Asian countries and coordinates the efforts of the Republic of Kazakhstan in providing foreign assistance and promoting international development.
