From February 5th to 7th, backed by UNDP in Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Culture and Information, and Almaty Management University (AlmaU), a series of training sessions on creative industries took place in Astana. These sessions were aimed at local akimat representatives from across the country and hosted at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Opening the event, UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan, Katarzyna Wawiernia, emphasized the importance of creative industries for the sustainable development:

"Creative industries account for more than 3% of global GDP and employ more than 6% of the working population. Kazakhstan has immense capacity in this regard. As we operate in various regions, we observe a wealth of talented young individuals with huge potential and vision. I believe that they are the driving force of Kazakhstan`s sustainable future".

During the sessions, the leaders from Kazakhstan's creative sectors took the stage: Erkanat Zaitov, the brains behind "NeSanatorium," and Dauren Tuleev, the founder of Almaty's creative hub "Dom36." They offered insights from their journey and imparted practical advice to the attendees.

The first day of training was dedicated to studying the basics of the creative economy, including the history of its development and the experience of countries such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Belgium. Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, Yevgeny Kochetov, presented the ministry's plans and strategy for developing the creative sector, and Senator Zhanna Asanova introduced a bill on creative industries.

Special attention was paid to gender aspects and inclusion in the creative industries.

The third day was marked by a workshop on regional roadmaps for the creative industries, where participants developed 90-day action plans.
