Trial Monitoring Second Report - Kurdistan Region of Iraq- Jan 2024 – Feb 2025

December 10, 2025

The Kurdistan Region of Iraq exercises its legal and institutional powers independently, in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Iraq. Corruption remains a persistent threat to public accountability and undermines trust in public institutions. While the Kurdistan Regional Government continues to promote integrity through policies, legislation, and institutional reforms, the judiciary remains central to ensuring accountability and upholding the rule of law.

From January 2024 to February 2025, the second phase of the Trial Monitoring Programme on grand corruption cases was implemented under the Anti-Corruption and Arbitration Initiatives for Environmental Justice Project, led by UNDP in cooperation with UNAMI’s Human Rights Office, with generous support from the European Union Delegation.
