Sistan and Baluchistan, Iran’s second-largest province by surface area, faces acute water stress driven by decades of drought and exacerbated by climate change. The region's limited access to clean water and inefficient agricultural practices have undermined local resilience, affecting health, livelihoods, and long-term sustainability.
To address these challenges, the UNDP-supported project, launched in September 2022, aims to strengthen access to potable water and promote water-efficient agriculture for approximately 50,000 residents across five villages in the Chabahar area.
The initiative reflects a collaborative effort among national partners and UNDP, made possible through the generous support of the Government of Japan.
