UNDP in Iran

Legal Framework

The Government of Iran and the United Nations Special Funds signed an agreement on 6th October 1959 concerning the assistance from the Special Fund to Iran. For UNDP its overall cooperation including provision of assistance has been governed by the Standard Annex to project documents – also referred to as Legal Annex.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the designated focal point for UNDP and thus approves and signs the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) with UNDP. The programme has both National Implementation (NIM) as well as Direct Implementation (DIM) and implemented by a range of partners including government ministries, government organizations, provincial and district authorities, civil society organizations, NGOs and other UN agencies.

This document was agreed to by the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and the Government of I. R. of Iran and signed on November 2015.

UNDP Country Programme Document (CPD) – 2017-2021

This document was approved by UNDP Executive Board in September 2016.
