Aware of the importance of raising awareness and providing adequate training to fight Gender-Based Violence, itinerant trainings on VGB took place in October for professionals in the education, health, justice and local administration sectors. The trainings, promoted by Fundação Ana Pereira with the support of UNDP, took place in different regions of the country, namely Bolama-Bijagós, Tombali, Oio, Gabú and Cacheu, and reinforced the capacities of 276 professionals who deal directly with victims of GBV.
In November, 20 GBV kits were donated to the squad of the Public Order Police in Bairro Militar, Bissau. The kits contain first-aid materials to guarantee full protection for girls and women who are victims of violence and who, for financial reasons or others, don’t seek medical treatment at hospitals and medical centers.
