This month, in Guinea-Bissau, the second mission of the University of Cambridge took place to implement a pilot initiative that aims to improve intercommunity relations in communities affected by conflicts, namely related to land ownership. The aim of the pilot is to understand if tensions decrease when social ties between communities increase. The works are being carried out in the communities of Arame and Elia, in São Domingos, and in Lungum and Sum, in Nhacra.
In this second phase, with the information collected in the previous consultations done in October, an exercise was carried out with the communities in conflict, so that together they could find consensus on aspects that can improve everyone's lives.
In the third and final phase, small interventions will be implemented based on the exercises carried out with the communities, to understand if greater interaction towards a common goal can reduce conflicts.
An initiative of the project “Political Stabilization and Reform through Confidence Building and Inclusive Dialogue”, implemented by UNDP Guinea-Bissau with the support of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund.
