UNDP Statement at the World Health Assembly 2026

by Joseph Serutoke, Deputy Manager of the UNDP Global Fund Partnership and Health

June 1, 2026

"Excellencies,

Health is the foundation of sustainable development – shaped by governance, financing, rights, climate resilience and inclusion.

This is why UNDP remains committed to integrated, multisectoral responses that advance health, prosperity and well-being for all

Even under extraordinary multidimensional pressures, countries and communities are delivering - defining priorities, mobilizing domestic resources, leveraging and scaling  innovation, and strengthening their systems.

The global health architecture must be equal to that ambition.

UNDP values WHO's critical leadership, and is committed to continue working with Member States, sister global health institutions like the Global Fund, Gavi, and others, UNAIDS, civil society and partners to strengthen inclusive governance and build resilient health systems.

In fragile and crisis-affected settings – where the need is greatest and the stakes highest – you can count on UNDP to stay and deliver together with its partners.

Thank you, Chair".
