UNDP The Gambia 2025 Annual Report

August 21, 2026

In 2025, as UNDP marked 60 years of development partnership globally, our partnership with The Gambia continued to deepen, driven by a shared ambition to build a more peaceful, inclusive and resilient future. Working alongside Government, civil society, the private sector, communities and development partners, UNDP supported efforts to strengthen democratic governance and social cohesion, expand inclusive economic opportunities, and advance climate resilience and environmental sustainability.

At the centre of this work was a commitment to people and opportunity. We supported stronger and more accountable institutions while investing in the potential of young people and women as leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and agents of change. From digital transformation and renewable energy to resilient food systems, education and innovation, these investments are helping create new pathways for inclusive growth and strengthen resilience to emerging challenges.

2025 was also a year of important partnerships and regional leadership. The visit of UN Deputy Secretary-General Ms. Amina J. Mohammed reaffirmed the strength of the UN The Gambia partnership across priorities including democratic governance, transitional justice and inclusive growth. The inaugural Sahel Governance Forum in Banjul further highlighted The Gambia’s role in advancing regional dialogue on governance, justice, innovative financing and the meaningful participation of young people and women in sustaining peace.

As we look ahead, the challenges of development financing and a rapidly changing global landscape call for renewed ambition, stronger partnerships and greater investment in people and institutions. UNDP remains committed to supporting The Gambia to scale solutions that work, mobilize resources and turn national priorities into lasting results. This report reflects what can be achieved when institutions, partners and communities work together towards a future defined by opportunity, resilience, dignity and hope.
