The inaugural timbuktoo ManuTech call drew 639 applications from across Africa and went through a five-stage vetting process. 

• An eligibility screen identified 373 applications
• An in-depth review of innovation, scalability, team strength and traction evaluation narrowed it to 100
• A selection committee made up of industry experts and ecosystem actors evaluated the top 100 to identify the final 40 standout startups that make up the ManuTech Hub's first cohort.
