Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, UNDP and Coursera join forces to support 50000 Azerbaijani citizens who lost their jobs during COVID19 gain new skills and knowledge

Baku, 30 September 2020 – Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Azerbaijan Republic, State Employment Agency, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the world’s leading education system Coursera joined forces to provide Workforce Recovery Initiative courses for 50000 citizens of Azerbaijan who recently lost their job due to staff reduction or business closure and would like to upskill their knowledge and competences in times of COVID-19.

The Workforce Recovery Initiative was launched by Coursera to help governments to respond to the unemployment crisis caused by the pandemic. It offers a complete online platform to help unemployed workers gain new skills to re-enter the labour market.

This initiative has been brought to Azerbaijan thanks to UNDP’s partnership with Coursera.

Citizens will be able to chose from a wide array of 4000 free training courses, currently offered on the Coursera platform by renowned universities and organizations.

The registration process is based on the first-come-first-served principle. Latest registration date is 14 December 2020.

The duration of the initiative is 3 months. “MasterTrack Certificate” trainings are not currently included in the list of trainings covered by this initiative.
