What is UNDP Youth Moonshot for Asia and the Pacific?

UNDP’s bold leap toward a future shaped by young people through leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship. It aims to reach every young person, everywhere in the Asia-Pacific region, to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and lead transformations for people and planet. The initiative is supported and grounded in trusted partnerships, flexible, catalytic resources, and a forward-looking approach.

It delivers integrated solutions that expand prosperity, strengthen governance, build resilience and support a healthy planet across the region. Grounded in trusted partnerships, flexible and catalytic resources, and a futures-oriented approach, it empowers young people to lead the transformations needed to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals across Asia and the Pacific.

 

Why invest in the Youth Moonshot?

Young people today are responding to the world’s challenges with innovative approaches, contributing fresh ideas, creating the world they want and driving human development for themselves, their communities and societies.

One, 700 million young people live in the Asia Pacific region, out of which around 1 in 5 young people are not in employment, education, or training. Two, USD 192.78 billion in potential GDP can be unlocked by improving economic prospects for young job seekers. Three, By 2030, over 9.4 million new jobs could be created in Asia-Pacific through green and digital transitions, especially for young people.
