Armenia’s Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence and UNDP Armenia Deepen Cooperation: Memorandum of Understanding Signed

On October 9, the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Armenia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The memorandum was signed by Davit Tadevosyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Armenia, and Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia.
Minister Davit Tadevosyan noted that the cooperation is of significant importance for the development of artificial intelligence in Armenia, emphasizing the importance of developing public policies, strategic documents and the necessary regulatory framework in the field.
Natia Natsvlishvili highlighted the importance of cooperation between UNDP and the Ministry, emphasizing the shared conviction that digital technologies and artificial intelligence will play a decisive role in Armenia’s development over the coming decades.
“Together with the Ministry, we have set a highly ambitious yet realistic goals: to support the development of technology and AI governance, strengthen digital and AI literacy among all groups of society, foster innovation and technology transfer, support digital entrepreneurship, and create opportunities for citizens across Armenia to participate confidently in the digital economy,” Natia Natsvlishvili said, emphasizing that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is not the end of a process, but the beginning of a long-term partnership.
The memorandum envisages cooperation between the parties in the development, discussion and potential implementation of Armenia’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, the Concept of the National AI Literacy Policy, and other strategic documents, contributing to the responsible, effective and safe use of AI.
The parties also plan to cooperate in developing and implementing policies and practical programmes aimed at promoting the adoption of digital and AI technologies, facilitating technology transfer, developing innovation ecosystems, and fostering digital entrepreneurship.
The cooperation will also include support for the engagement of public authorities in the development and implementation of policies in the digital and AI sectors.
As an important first step in this cooperation, AI Days 2026 is scheduled to take place this November, with the aim of promoting the broad, responsible and effective use of AI throughout Armenia.
