Launch of ARTEMIS project

On 15 December, at the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Armenia, CEC Chairperson Vahagn Hovakimyan and UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili signed a Memorandum of Understanding, officially launching the ARTEMIS – “Advancing Reforms for Transparent and Inclusive Management of Electoral Systems in Armenia” project.

The launch of the ARTEMIS project reflects the strong partnership and shared commitment of the UN, the European Union, Governments of Norway, Sweden, and Germany to promote transparent, inclusive, and trustworthy electoral processes in Armenia. The project is implemented by the UNDP, with the involvement of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA).

“The ARTEMIS project reflects our long-standing partnership with the Central Election Commission and UNDP’s commitment to supporting the strengthening of democratic institutions in Armenia,” said Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia. “Through this project, we aim to contribute to the development of more transparent, inclusive, and trust-enhancing electoral processes, in line with international best practices.”

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Ms. Francoise Jacob, UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, H.E. Ms. Bergljot Hovland, Ambassador of Norway to Armenia, Mr. Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation Section, EU Delegation to Armenia, Mr. Klas Waldenström, Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Sweden to Armenia, Ms. Katrin Buder- Pelz, Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Germany to Armenia, Mr. Jérôme Leyraud, International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Country Director for Armenia, and other guests.
