2026 Africa Sustainable Development Report
2026 Africa Sustainable Development Report
April 29, 2026
The 2026 edition of the Africa Sustainable Development Report reviews Africa’s progress on the implementation of and prospect towards achieving five selected SDGs and related goals of Agenda 2063. The five SDGs in focus this year are Goal 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all; Goal 7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all; Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation; Goal 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable; and Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
The Africa Sustainable Development Report (ASDR), a joint effort of the African Union Commission, The Economic Commission for Africa, the African Development Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme, is currently the only report that systematically tracks the progress of African countries in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the African Union’s Agenda 2063 “The Africa We Want.” The ASDR has been published annually since 2017 to inform the implementation status of these two overarching global and regional long-term development frameworks for transformation of African economies.
