ARFSD 12 arrives at a decisive moment

Africa has made meaningful progress on several SDGs, but the pace of delivery remains insufficient to meet the 2030 targets. Progress is uneven across goals — and even more uneven across countries and communities. 

For UNDP Africa, this Forum is an opportunity to help shape a more integrated development agenda, one that connects resilience, financing, institutions, innovation and delivery at scale. 

We are engaging across pre-events, side events and thematic sessions that tackle the most strategic questions of our time: 

• How do we strengthen implementation systems so that policy ambition translates into measurable outcomes? 
• How do we finance transformation credibly, through stronger domestic resource mobilization and investment-ready pipelines? 
• How do we connect sectors — water, energy, cities, industry, climate, livelihoods — rather than treating them in isolation? 
• How do we turn evidence into action at the pace the continent needs? 

What we're bringing to the conversation 

UNDP Africa's contribution to ARFSD 12 rests on three priorities: 

1. Integrated solutions 

Connecting water, energy, climate, livelihoods, governance and inclusion in ways that reflect how development challenges are actually experienced on the ground. 

2. Financing realism 

Elevating the imperative of domestic resource mobilization, investment-ready pathways and tighter alignment between strategy, financing and delivery. 

3. Implementation at scale 

Advancing practical approaches that help countries move from ambition to measurable, community-level progress.
