The 3rd Africa Blue Economy Week and High-Level Sustainable Blue Economy Conference serves as a delivery-focused platform to translate policy into action. Co-hosted by the African Union Commission, the Government of Angola, and UNDP, the event brings together African Heads of State, Ministers, regional economic communities, technical experts, and youth/women entrepreneurs under the theme: “From Strategy to Action: Political Leadership for Africa’s Blue Economy Transformation.”
The conference accelerates the implementation of the AU Blue Economy Strategy and Agenda 2063, bridging the gap between continental frameworks, invested capital, and grassroots opportunities. The robust agenda include:
- High-level political roundtables: Bringing together Ministers, financial institutions, and the AfCFTA Secretariat to unlock public and private capital, mobilize sustainable blue finance, and facilitate regional trade pathways.
- Digital transformation & ocean science: Showcasing data-driven ocean observation platforms, digital tools, and science-to-policy initiatives that help coastal communities move from subsistence to resilient enterprise.
- Inclusive youth and women acceleration: Highlighting the Africa Blue Economy Accelerator Programme, celebrating innovative youth and women entrepreneurs, and presenting awards to top blue economy innovators.
- The Luanda Call to Action: Endorsing time-bound sectoral commitments, actionable policy pipelines, and accountability mechanisms to ensure progress is tracked annually across the continent.
