Sudan is experiencing world’s worst humanitarian crisis. War has displaced over 12 million people, devastated the economy and decimated vital services. But amid this emergency, communities continue to adapt, rebuild and push forward – and UNDP remains by their side.

The UNDP Sudan 2024 Annual Report documents how we continued to deliver development support throughout the year, even as violence, displacement and access constraints deepened. Working across 10 field offices in 6 states, UNDP helped sustain critical services, revive livelihoods and promote peace at the local level.

In 2024, our programmes supported nearly 1 million people with income and jobs, delivered health care and clean energy to millions more, and helped local governments and peacebuilders reduce conflict and restore essential systems.

These achievements would not have been possible without the strong support of our partners. International donors, UN agencies, civil society and local authorities played a vital role by providing flexible funding, technical expertise and strategic collaboration. Their continued engagement ensured that we could adapt quickly, reaching communities across Sudan that are calling for recovery efforts, even in the most difficult conditions.

This year’s report highlights not only the scale of need, but also the power of local action. Through stories of farmers, health workers, young peace ambassadors and women entrepreneurs, it shows how people across Sudan are working to secure their future – with international support that restores dignity and reinforces long-term resilience.

As the war continues, so does UNDP’s commitment to stay and deliver to stand with Sudan’s people as they chart a path toward recovery.
