Resilient Livelihoods

UNDP works to improve access to health-care and life-saving medicines, with a focus on reaching the most vulnerable. We also support systems for clean energy, water and food production to improve overall community health, safety and resilience.

Working with the National Medical Supplies Fund, we solarise and refurbish Primary Health Care facilities, support mobile health services for vulnerable and isolated groups, and train health personnel. We procure life-saving drugs for HIV and TB patients and improve the early diagnosis and treatment of major diseases through the provision of health infrastructure and new technology, such as MRIs and portable X-ray machines.

To boost general health and nutrition – building resilience before people fall ill – we support farmers with improved agricultural inputs, provide training on advanced agricultural techniques and set up solar powered water sources maintained by local community governance structures.

Main achievements in 2025:

  • 1.75m people improved incomes through support for agriculture and MSMSs, as well as cash-for-work programmes, helping communities recover from shocks and strengthen local value chains.

  • 25,000 women moved from subsistence to sustainable income generation, strengthened asset ownership, and increased control over household and community resources.
