People-of-SriLanka

August 18, 2017

The Ministry of National Co-existence, Dialogue & Official Languages (MNCDOL) developed the publication on “People of Sri Lanka”  compiling highly informative articles encompassing many aspects of Sri Lankan Ethnic groups, their identity, their contribution towards national development and most importantly their binding enthusiasm for social integration and co-existence.

The publication, supported by UNDP, contains information of 19 ethnic groups live in Sri Lanka against their origin, population, geographical distribution, language, religious & cultural practices, living style (food/dress codes) and dwellings, contribution to the society, commonalities, linkages between other communities etc. The publication is a testimony to foster a culture of peaceful co-existence in all sections of the Sri Lankan society.

This is the first ever national effort in search of Sri Lankan ethnic groups and their diversity.
