About SECU
How SECU Responds
The UNDP's Social and Environmental Standards (SES) are underpinned by an Accountability Mechanism with two key components: i) the Stakeholder Response Mechanism; and ii) the Social and Environmental Compliance Unit (SECU).
SECU investigates alleged non-compliance with UNDP's social and environmental commitments from project-affected stakeholders and recommends measures to address findings of non-compliance.
Standards & Commitments
SECU ensures compliance with:
- The Social and Environmental Standards (SES)
- The Social and Environmental Screening Procedure (SESP)
- Other social and environmental commitments made by UNDP
Note: For older projects (before 2015), SECU applies the standards that were in place at the time of the project.
