On 3 April, the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC) hosted a Meet & Greet session with the UNDP Student Ambassadors selected from Korea University. The event served as the first official opportunity for the ambassadors to connect, share their interest in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and receive an overview of upcoming activities, while also clarifying their roles and expectations as Student Ambassadors.

The UNDP Student Ambassador programme is a global initiative that supports young people around the world in strengthening their understanding of sustainable development and global issues, and in contributing to meaningful change at both local and international levels. In line with this global effort, USPC operates the programme in partnership with Korea University. Selected students engage in a range of communication and outreach activities based on the values of UNDP and the SDGs.

Opening the session, all Student Ambassadors introduced themselves and shared their motivations for joining the programme, as well as their interest in sustainable development. This was followed by welcome remarks from Anne Juepner, Director of USPC, offering participants an opportunity to meet the Director and reflect on the purpose of the programme.

Hye-Jin Park, USPC’s Partnerships and Communications Specialist, then introduced the role and key activities of the Centre. She provided an overview of UNDP’s global development cooperation framework, as well as USPC’s knowledge-sharing and partnership-based initiatives, and its strategic priorities in advancing the SDGs. This helped the Student Ambassadors gain a clearer understanding of USPC’s direction and work.

Sujin Kim, USPC’s Outreach and Advocacy Analyst, introduced the Centre’s collaboration with UNDP global teams and highlighted upcoming SDG-related events in Seoul, including the Anti-Corruption Forum and the International Career Fair. This session provided Student Ambassadors with an overview of both online and offline engagement opportunities. Eunseo Choi, Communications Intern, then presented the direction and guidelines for content creation and introduced USPC’s main media channels.

Two Student Ambassadors from the 2025 cohort also joined the Meet & Greet to share their experiences and offer encouragement to the new cohort. June Park contributed a video message highlighting her experience and practical tips during the programme, while Henrique Rezende joined in person for a discussion with participants. They reflected on their career development following the programme, the benefits of participation, and their experiences with offline outreach and events. Their remarks were followed by an engaging Q&A session with the new cohort.

The session closed with an open discussion to share reflections and feedback on the global onboarding bootcamp, followed by a brief office tour. Participants had the opportunity to explore the USPC working environment and engage with staff members, further deepening their understanding of the programme.

USPC is delighted to welcome these enthusiastic young leaders and looks forward to supporting them as they begin their journey in the Student Ambassadors programme.
