USPC Impact Highlights 2025
March 31, 2026
Today’s global landscape is becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable. In this evolving context, meaningful progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) begins with the sharing and scaling of knowledge.
The UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC) works to facilitate the exchange of the Republic of Korea’s development experience through SDG partnerships and innovative programmes. This is grounded in the understanding that sharing development experience can translate into tangible impact on the ground across diverse country contexts.
UNDP’s strategic direction places digital transformation, gender equality, and sustainable finance as key drivers of development. Building on these priorities, efforts are focused on advancing inclusive prosperity, strengthening transparent governance, enhancing resilience to crises, and promoting a healthy planet.
In 2025, the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre produced a video highlighting how these priorities have contributed to advancing the SDGs. The video captures USPC’s role as a bridge between knowledge and implementation.
The UNDP Seoul Policy Centre supported the strengthening of anti-corruption systems in Mongolia. Through this initiative, a more accessible and secure environment was established for citizens to report corruption cases, contributing to enhanced trust and transparency.
In collaboration with partners across the Republic of Korea, Latin America, and Africa, integrated services to address gender-based violence were developed. This initiative fostered cross-regional exchange and contributed to building survivor-centred support systems.
In Cambodia, governance improvements have enabled local communities to actively engage in forest conservation and promote eco-tourism. Drawing on the Republic of Korea’s forest restoration experience, efforts are underway to support more sustainable community-based forest management.
The Republic of Korea’s forest fire prevention model has also been shared with countries including El Salvador and Albania. These efforts have contributed to strengthening national fire management systems, while enhancing climate resilience and adaptive capacity.
In Kazakhstan, digital skills training programmes were implemented. These initiatives supported micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in adapting to and growing within the digital economy.
Youth innovators from the Republic of Korea and the Asia-Pacific region also play a key role. Support has been provided to develop solutions led by young innovators working toward a more sustainable future.
In Ethiopia, the population and housing census system was modernized based on the Republic of Korea’s experience. This has enabled the development of more effective policies grounded in accurate and detailed data.
In addition, the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre is developing tailored AI-based digital applications for development cooperation to better respond to country needs on the ground.
The UNDP Seoul Policy Centre continues to serve as a bridge—facilitating the exchange of knowledge among partner countries and supporting the global scaling of successful models and practices. By sharing the Republic of Korea’s development experience, USPC has contributed to advancing South-South cooperation.
Through policy forums, Human Development Report launches, and youth engagement initiatives, it has fostered global dialogue.
