Statement on reported discrepancy in a UNDP-coordinated shipment entering Gaza

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has been informed by Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) of a reported discrepancy in a truck entering Gaza on March 25 within a UNDP-coordinated shipment.

The truck was listed as carrying cooking oil and was reported to include motorized oil products. UNDP takes this matter seriously and has initiated an internal investigation to establish the facts and is following up closely on the matter with the Israeli authorities. Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.

UNDP stresses that it applies strict compliance and oversight procedures and has zero tolerance for any misuse of humanitarian or development assistance channels.
