Digital transformation is fundamentally reshaping economies, public institutions, labour markets and societies. The pace and scale of this change raise important questions for human development: ensuring that digitalization contributes to greater inclusion, expands opportunities and leaves no one behind requires deliberate policy choices, effective governance and sustained investment in people and skills.

Derasat collaobrates with UNDP to convene a high-level side event on the margins of the UN General Assembly to present emerging findings from the NHDR and discuss the policy choices, institutional capabilities and partnerships needed to ensure technological progress translates into tangible development outcomes. Bringing together senior government representatives, UN leaders, policymakers and technology and knowledge institutions, the dialogue will position Bahrain’s experience within wider regional and global discussions on digitalization, AI and human development, ahead of the report’s full national launch in December 2026.

The event will seek to:

  • Introduce the ongoing Bahrain National Human Development Report on Digital Transformation, being prepared for launch in December 2026, and highlight its contribution to policy dialogue on digital transformation and human development.
  • Showcase Bahrain’s digital transformation journey and elevate Bahrain’s digital human development experience within UN policy dialogue.
  • Explore the policy choices and investments needed for inclusive, responsible digital transformation that expands opportunities and mitigates inequality.
  • Foster international partnerships and knowledge exchange among governments, the United Nations, the private sector, development institutions and knowledge partners, including through South-South and triangular cooperation.
