The EU-funded WE LEAD project supports women’s economic empowerment in Afghanistan by improving access to financial services and helping women led businesses grow in a highly constrained environment. With 75% of Afghans subsistence insecure, 88% of female headed households deprived of basic needs, and only 7% of women employed outside the home, the project focuses on practical community-based solutions that strengthen livelihoods and financial inclusion.
