Iraq's Country Programme to the Green Climate Fund

Iraq's Country Programme to the Green Climate Fund

September 18, 2025

This report is one of the main documents that Iraq submits to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to introduce the most important national trends regarding the shift towards investment in a green and resilient economy and fulfilling Iraq's commitments to the Paris Agreement through showing the cornerstone of country’s pipeline development with the GCF.

The document is anchored in a country’s unique sustainable development, climate change and climate financing contexts to prioritize projects and programmes for GCF funding in a manner that promotes country ownership, drives transformation in key sectors and regions of the country, and where possible, mobilises financing from other public and private sources to achieve the ambitious climate change goals of the country identified in the NDC.

Through this document, the country provided a description of the multi-stakeholder engagement process followed to develop, monitor and update its GCF Country Programme and also include information on key stakeholders engaged in the process such as other government agencies at the national or sub-national level, accredited entities, development partners, private sector, and civil society organisations.
