The fundamental purpose in the formulation of the SDG mainstreamed medium-term development plan is to operationalize the mandate of the Ampara Urban Council, which is “regulation, control, and administration of all matters relating to the public health, public utility services, and public thoroughfares, and generally with the protection and promotion of the comfort, convenience, and welfare of the people and providing amenities of the people in a manner that is inclusive, sustainable and resilient. An SDG Mainstreamed Medium-Term Plan is path-breaking for the Ampara
Urban Council and local government planning, especially regarding its scope and methodology, content and structure, and the institutional platform for realizing its development aspirations.
