UNDP's Green Innovative Finance for Latin America and the Caribbean (GIF 4 LAC) initiative, funded by Sweden through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), is part of UNDP’s broader efforts to promote the mobilization of green finance in the region and to accelerate the implementation of national and regional climate and environmental plans. 

GIF 4 LAC aims to build evidence and gather experiences from stakeholders across sectors to support more strategic decision-making around investment priorities. It seeks to advance green finance as a key tool for fostering resilience and positioning the region as a global leader in climate action. 

The initiative: 

1. Promotes the exchange of successful experiences,
2. Supports the development of innovative tools to accelerate financing,
3. Strengthens capacities to mobilize green budgets, and
4. Works with countries to support the creation of financial regulatory frameworks.
