Building Back Blue - Leveraging COVID-19 Recovery for Sustainable Blue Economy in Fiji and the Pacific

The initiative will respond through the development of a pipeline of investment-ready blue economy opportunities and funding for innovative solutions in partnership with on-going UNDP and UN Capital Development Fund initiatives and the Government's 'Drua Incubator' (a product of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - 23rd Conference of Parties or COP23), which is mandated to operate as a regional body to promote the development of innovative climate finance projects with an aim to replicate and scale to other Pacific island countries. Fiji was the first emerging market to issue a sovereign green bond to support climate change mitigation and adaptation and can draw on its lessons to move ahead in an evidence and risk-informed way.
