On April 11, 2025, the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) facilitated a one-day inter-political party youth dialogue around the Nimba senatorial by-election.

The event brought together seventeen youth representatives (5 female and 12 male) from the youth wings of six registered political parties: the Unity Party (UP), Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Vision for Liberia Transformation (VOLT), All Liberia Party (ALP), National Democratic Coalition (NDC), and Movement for Reconstruction and Democracy (MRD).

The dialogue created a safe and supportive space for young people from diverse political affiliations to look beyond their party lines and identify key issues affecting the youth during the by-election campaign.

Participants discussed important themes related to electoral contestation, including ways to mitigate potential election violence, promote non-violent and issue-based campaigning, and build trust among youth wings of different political parties in the Country.

During the discussions, participants emphasized the need for more inter-party dialogues, not only among youth leagues but also among political party leaderships across Liberia.

"Political dialogue, when grounded in mutual respect and shared national interests, can reduce tension and promote peaceful coexistence," one participant remarked.

Another added, "Though I am from the ruling party, I engage with other young people from different political parties without attacking their personalities."

Ignatius Boyah Wisseh, the Director of Political Affairs at the National Elections Commission (NEC), urged participants to familiarize themselves with the laws and regulations governing political parties.

At the end of the dialogue, participants signed "The Ganta Declaration," committing themselves to promote peaceful messages leading up to and during the by-election on April 22.
