Youth Peace Ambassadors Advance Peace Dialogue

UNDP Kuwait brings together UN agencies and youth to strengthen youth leadership in building peaceful, inclusive and resilient societies.

June 21, 2026

Kuwait, 21 June 2026 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) hosted Youth Peace Ambassadors at the UN House for a dialogue on the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Agenda, highlighting the critical role of young people in advancing peace, social cohesion and sustainable development.

The dialogue provided participants with an opportunity to engage directly with representatives from several United Nations agencies, explore the global Youth, Peace and Security agenda, and discuss how young people can contribute to addressing challenges through leadership, participation and community engagement. The session also introduced participants to the work of UN agencies in Kuwait and their efforts to empower youth, strengthen resilience and foster inclusive development.

"Young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow; they are already shaping the future of their communities today. When young people are given the opportunity to participate, lead and engage, they become powerful contributors to peace, social cohesion and sustainable development. UNDP remains committed to creating spaces where their voices can be heard and their potential can be realized," said Mr. Sherif El Tokali, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Kuwait.

Mr. Daham Ateeq Al Daham, Founder of the Peace Ambassadors Project highlighted the vision behind the initiative, stating: “The Peace Ambassadors project is built on the belief that young people are active partners in building peace and promoting dialogue and social responsibility. Inspired by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, the project reflects a long-term commitment to empowering youth and creating sustainable impact. We look forward to strengthening cooperation with our international partners to advance this vision.”

As part of the programme, participants engaged with representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), gaining insights into how different areas of the United Nations' work contribute to youth empowerment, inclusion, resilience and social cohesion. The dialogue provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, explore the principles of the Youth, Peace and Security agenda, and reflect on the role young people can play in building more peaceful and inclusive societies.

The dialogue forms part of ongoing efforts by UNDP in Kuwait and its partners to support youth engagement, strengthen civic participation and promote the meaningful inclusion of young people in development processes. It also contributes to broader national efforts to empower youth as active partners in advancing Kuwait's development priorities and building a more inclusive and resilient future.
