UNDP and KFH Advance Sustainability Integration Across Key Business Operations

July 5, 2026

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Kuwait Finance House (KFH) have concluded a joint initiative aimed at strengthening sustainability across key business functions, including SME Finance, Procurement, and Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM).

As sustainability increasingly shapes business, investment, and financing decisions worldwide, the initiative sought to help integrate sustainability considerations into areas that influence how financing decisions are made, how suppliers are engaged, and how risks are managed.

Teams from across KFH worked together to identify practical opportunities to strengthen processes, enhance decision-making, and align business practices with the institution’s broader sustainability commitments.

In SME Finance, the initiative focused on strengthening approaches to client engagement and financing practices, helping ensure that sustainability considerations are increasingly reflected in support provided to small and medium-sized enterprises. Procurement teams explored opportunities to strengthen supplier engagement and sourcing practices, while Third-Party Risk Management teams examined ways to better consider sustainability-related risks and opportunities when assessing external partners.

Beyond the technical aspects, the initiative encouraged greater collaboration across departments and helped build a shared understanding of how sustainability can support business performance, risk management, and long-term value creation.

By focusing on business functions that influence financing, procurement, and risk management, the initiative lays the groundwork for a more systematic approach to sustainability across KFH. This also supports Kuwait Vision 2035 by promoting responsible business practices and contributing to the development of a more competitive and sustainable economy.

Through their ongoing partnership, UNDP and KFH continue to demonstrate how sustainability can be integrated into core business operations, helping institutions move from commitment to implementation and creating lasting value for businesses, communities, and the wider economy.
