Workshops engage government, private sector, and civil society to shape Kuwait’s next integrity framework
Kuwait launches nationwide consultations to shape its new Anti-Corruption and Integrity Strategy
November 17, 2025
Kuwait, The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD) has launched a series of national workshops bringing together various government entities, the private sector, and civil society to jointly contribute to Kuwait’s new Anti-Corruption and Integrity Strategy. The workshops form part of the national project led by Nazaha to update Kuwait’s integrity and anti-corruption framework.
The consultations will build on the progress achieved under the 2019–2025 strategy and will shape Kuwait’s next Anti-Corruption and Integrity framework, in alignment with Vision 2035 and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). Each workshop provides a dedicated space for stakeholders to exchange perspectives, build shared understanding, and identify priorities across key sectors. These Include essential public services, private sector, civil society, media, education, oversight entities, and justice institutions.
“Transparency is a shared responsibility. No single institution can drive this transformation alone. National strategies are essential to bridging responsibilities across all parties and providing a sense of ownership. These workshops matter because they bring every sector to the table, government, private sector, and civil society, to exchange perspectives, build shared understanding, and shape a strategy that strengthens trust and delivers lasting impact for Kuwait. UNDP is proud to support this national effort, working alongside Nazaha and the GSSCPD to ensure that every voice contributes to building a transparent and accountable future for Kuwait,” said Ms. Emma Morley, UNDP Resident Representative in The State of Kuwait.
The outcomes of the workshops will guide the development of Kuwait’s new Anti-Corruption and Integrity Strategy, ensuring that the strategy is participatory, evidence based, and reflective of national priorities. The strategy is expected to be finalized in 2026.
Kuwait has recorded progress in international governance indicators. In the Corruption Perceptions Index, Kuwait improved its score from 42 to 46, moving from 77th to 63rd place globally. This progress is also reflected in the World Justice Project’s Rule of Law Index, where Kuwait ranks 53 out of 143 countries globally and 3rd out of 10 countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
Looking ahead, Kuwait and UNDP will continue working together to ensure that transparency remains central to Kuwait’s development path, contributing to global efforts under the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
