This report, funded by Canada, presents the first comprehensive Climate Vulnerability Index for Iraq. It integrates climate, socio-economic, and spatial data to assess exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity across all 19 governorates.

The study identifies hotspots of vulnerability, evaluates future climate risks under multiple scenarios, and highlights impacts on water, agriculture, health, and infrastructure. 

Its findings provide a science-based foundation for Iraq’s National Adaptation Plan and guide policymakers in prioritizing adaptation measures to reduce risks and strengthen resilience.
