Leadership and Advocacy Programme for Women - UNDP Iraq

Are you a woman from Anbar, Diyala, Salahaddin, Ninewa, or Kirkuk interested in strengthening your leadership skills and enhancing your capacity to advocate for women’s rights and priorities in your community?

UNDP Iraq invites women to apply for a Leadership and Advocacy Program organized under the project “Catalyzing Women's Peace Groups and Civil Society Alliances for Sustainable Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda in Iraq.”

Selected participants will receive support through a two-day in-person leadership and advocacy training, followed by opportunities to participate in dialogue sessions and networking and coordination platforms within their governorates. Participants will also receive technical support to strengthen their advocacy efforts and engagement with local government authorities on women’s rights, priorities, and participation in decision-making.

Through this ongoing process, participants will strengthen their practical leadership and advocacy skills, exchange experiences, build professional networks, and enhance coordination and collaboration with women across the five target governorates.

Who can apply?

  • ● Women from Anbar, Diyala, Salahaddin, Ninewa, and Kirkuk interested in strengthening their leadership and advocacy skills.
  • ● Members of UNDP-supported Women Peace Groups.
  • ● Representatives of women-led Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs).
  • ● Women interested in advocating for specific women’s rights issues and priorities in their communities.
  • ● Women committed to contributing to peacebuilding, community development, and women’s participation in public life and decision-making.

Training Schedule

The in-person training will be conducted over two days (excluding travel days). Selected participants will be assigned to one of the following training sessions:

Baghdad 1–2 September
Baghdad 6–7 September
Erbil 9–10 September
Erbil 13–14 September
