Call for Proposals: Energy Efficiency Grant to Support Artisanal Palm Oil Millers and Producers

August 4, 2022

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Nationally Determined Contribution Support Programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and Environmental Protection Agency, wishes to announce a call for proposals, from NGOs/CSOs/CBOs, artisanal palm oil cooperatives/associations, for energy efficiency and waste management in the small-scale palm oil milling and production sub-sector.

The overall objective of the call is to provide technical and financial support towards improved energy efficient production and sustainable waste management to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve worker and public health, and avoid environmental pollution.

The energy sector in Ghana remains one of the key sectors for transformation to address poverty, climate crisis and build resilience. Greener and cleaner energy use penetration and increased demand-side energy use efficiency are needed in both the formal and informal food production sub-sectors.

As a first step in the competition process, we are requesting interested entities (CSOs, NGOs, CBOs, Artisanal palm oil association/cooperatives) to submit a proposal to competition.gh@undp.org by 19th August 2022, 5pm GMT. All proposals should be developed and submitted using the ‘NDC-SP APOP PROPOSAL APPLICATION FORM’ template.  See further background information and guidelines in the ‘CALL FOR PROPOSALS NDC-SP’ document.

This call only applies to entities (CSOs, NGOs, CBOs, Artisanal palm oil association/cooperatives) that have experience working in the palm oil sub-sector and are interested in supporting artisanal palm oil producers, especially women and youth in improving energy use efficiency and their waste management practices.

For further information or process assistance if interested in the call, please contact abdul-razak.saeed@undp.org or mohammedmesti@gmail.com
