The Enabling Democratic Governance in Ethiopia (EDGE) is a four-year, multi-stakeholder project spanning from January 2024 to June 2027 managed by UNDP. The main objective of the project is to continue to support the country to sustain efforts towards enhancing institutional capacities and frameworks for strengthening good governance and improving inclusion and democratic participation in line with the Constitution and International Conventions and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to which Ethiopia is a signatory.
The project will deliver on four inter-related and complementary outputs
Gender-responsive legislative and accountability systems put in place/further strengthened to ensure greater effectiveness, accountability, transparency, and inclusiveness in delivering improved public services.
Capacities of elected representatives and staff of legislative and accountability bodies enhanced to achieve delivery of public services in transparent, accountable, gender inclusive, ethical, and responsive ways.
Awareness and knowledge of citizens particularly women and other minority groups enhanced to claim their rights, voice their concerns, and actively participate in democratic decision-making processes.
Capacity of CSO networks and Media Apex Organizations enhanced for more effective & efficient promotion and advocacy of gender equality, inclusivity, accountability, and human rights issues, with increased citizens' engagement & participation.
